BiographieDie deutsch-amerikanische Sopranistin JENNIFER JAKOB begeistert seit September 2010 Publikum und Fachpresse als Mitglied des RYAN OPERA CENTERs der LYRIC OPERA OF CHICAGO. Über ihre Darstellung der Norina in Donizettis Don Pasquale schrieb man in der anerkannten Zeitung Chicago Tribune: “Jennifer Jakobs Norina überzeugte durch ihre hervorragende stimmliche Darbietung und glänzende Bühnenpräsenz und zeigte ein sicheres kommödiantisches Gespür für die Rolle.”
Bereits im Alter von 22 Jahren sang sie Adina in Donizettis L’Elisir d’amore und Beth in Adamos Little Women am OBERLIN OPERA THEATER und wurde zudem im gleichen Jahr vom OPERA THEATRE of ST. LOUIS engagiert. Dort war sie als Cover der Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weills Street Scene tätig und im darauffolgenen Jahr als Cover der Titelpartie Anna Karenina in David Carlsons Oper Anna Karenina. Während ihres Magisterstudiums an der INDIANA UNIVERSITY war sie als Lisette (La Rondine), Frau Fluth (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor) und Rita (William Bolcom’s A Wedding) zu sehen und wirkte zeitgleich für zwei Spielzeiten an der SANTA FE OPERA mit, wo sie 2009 als Annina in Laurent Pellys La Traviata an der Seite von Natalie Dessay auf der Bühne stand. Für ihre herausragende sängerische und darstellerische Leistung erhielt Jennifer Jakob den “Luke Graham Memorial Award” der SANTA FE OPERA. Als Stipendiatin der LYRIC OPERA OF CHICAGO genoss die junge Sängerin die Zusammenarbeit mit Dirigenten wie Sir Andrew Davis, Alain Altinoglu und Harry Bicket und wirkte in Produktionen von Francisco Negrin, Matthew Lata und Elijah Moshinsky mit. In Chicago war sie als Frasquita (Carmen), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Clorinda (Cenerentola) und Despina (Cosi fan tutte) zu erleben und stand außerdem in Macbeth, Lohengrin und Rinaldo auf der Bühne. Außerdem gewann die Sopranistin den 1. Platz im INDIANAPOLIS MATINEE MUSICALE COMPETITION, den 2. Platz im Midwest Regional Wettbewerb der METROPOLITAN OPERA NATIONAL COUNCIL AUDITIONS, und das Lynne Harvey Scholarship des MUSICIANS CLUB OF WOMEN in Chicago. Jennifer Jakob kann auf eine umfangreiche Konzerttätigkeit verweisen. In den USA konzertierte sie bereits mit dem GRANT PARK ORCHESTRA, der GREEN BAY SYMPHONY, dem NEWARK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA und der SANTA FE SYMPHONY. Zudem war Sie in St. Louis im Rahmen der SHELDON CLASSICS SERIES zu sehen und hat als Gast zahlreiche Liederabende an der WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY gegeben. Den Sommer 2012 verbrachte sie in der Schweiz, wo sie die Rolle der Susanna in Mozarts Le Nozze di Figaro sehr erfolgreich im Rahmen der VERBIER FESTIVAL Akademie gesungen hat. Im Herbst 2013 singt sie ihre erste Donna Anna in Mozarts Don Giovanni mit dem HIDDEN VALLEY OPERA ENSEMBLE in Kalifornien, mit dem renommierten Dirigenten Stewart Robertson am Pult. Im Sommer 2014 steht sie als Mimi in Puccinis La Bohème in der PASINGER FABRIK in München auf der Bühne. |
BiographyHailed for her "soaring" vocals and "attractive stage presence", German-American soprano JENNIFER JAKOB is presenting herself as an up-and-coming artist of note on both American and European operatic stages.
Returning to her native Germany in the summer of 2012 Ms. Jakob attended the VERBIER FESTIVAL Academy in Switzerland and sang the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro directed by Tim Carroll and conducted by Jayce Ogren. During her time with the RYAN OPERA CENTER at the LYRIC OPERA OF CHICAGO, Ms. Jakob already had the opportunity and privilege of working with such notable conductors as Sir Andrew Davis, Alain Altinoglu, and Harry Bicket in productions by Francisco Negrin, Matthew Lata, and Elijah Moshinsky. After making her company debut in Verdi's Macbeth in 2010 she continued to sing a wide variety of roles including Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and Despina in Cosi fan tutte. A member of other prestigious American training programs, Ms. Jakob was an Apprentice Singer with the SANTA FE OPERA where she performed the role of Annina in Verdi's La traviata along side Natalie Dessay in the acclaimed Laurent Pelly production conducted by Frédéric Chaslin. She was also a member of the OPERA THEATRE OF ST. LOUIS Gerdine Young Artist program where she covered the title role in Carlsons' Anna Karenina and Rose Maurrant in Weill's Street Scene, conducted by Stephen Lord and directed by James Robinson. Ms. Jakob pursued her graduate studies at INDIANA UNIVERSITY and holds a Bachelor's degree from OBERLIN COLLEGE. While conducting her studies she performed such roles as Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, both Anna Reich and Frau Fluth in Nicolai's Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Lisette in Puccini's La Rondine, Sister Mathilde in Poulenc's Les Dialogue des Carmélites, Beth in Adamo's Little Women, and Rita in the collegiate premiere of Bolcom's A Wedding conducted by David Agler. At home on the concert stage, Ms. Jakob has performed works such as Britten's Les illuminations with the OBERLIN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, evenings of arias and ensembles with the GRANT PARK ORCHESTRA, Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate with the GREEN BAY SYMPHONY, songs by Richard Strauss with the NEWARK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, and Mozart’s Requiem with the SANTA FE SYMPHONY. Ms. Jakob has been featured in the SHELDON CLASSICS SERIES in St. Louis and frequently gives Liederabende at WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY. Ms. Jakob's other awards and accolades include First Prize in the INDIANAPOLIS MATINEE MUSICALE COMPETITION, the Lynne Harvey Scholarship from the MUSICIANS CLUB OF WOMEN OF CHICAGO, Illinois, and Second Place in the Midwest Region of the METROPOLITAN OPERA NATIONAL COUNCIL AUDITIONS. In the fall of 2013 Ms. Jakob returned to the USA to sing her first Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the HIDDEN VALLEY OPERA ENSEMBLE, under the baton of acclaimed conductor Stewart Robertson. She will spend the summer of 2014 singing Mimi in Puccini’s La Bohème in Munich with PASINGER FABRIK. |
